1 dead after home goes up in flames in Melville, Suffolk County

MELVILLE, Suffolk County (WABC) — Officials are investigating a fire that killed a man in Melville Tuesday morning.

A propane tank set the home in flames.

The tank, located between a shed and the house, caught fire and spread to the Wilmington Drive structure.

The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived just after 4:45 a.m.

More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating.
